Refined bleached shellac, made from natural shellac resin secreted by lac insects on host plants, is produced using advanced modern technology with de-waxing and dechlorination processes. It is a natural, non-toxic, eco-friendly product in fine light lemon-colored granules, featuring strong adhesion, good plasticity, excellent electrical insulation, tensile strength, wear resistance, and resistance to water, rust, oil, and acid. It is mainly used in fruit preservation, cosmetics, confectionery coating, as well as in military, electrical, and paint industries. Compared with similar products, it offers lower chlorine content, longer thermal life, extended storage stability, and no adverse effects on human health, in line with the current green and environmental protection trends.

Refined bleached shellac, made from natural shellac resin secreted by insects on host plants, is processed using advanced modern techniques. This dewaxed and dechlorinated shellac appears as fine, pale lemon-colored granules. It features strong adhesion, excellent plasticity, good electrical insulation, high tensile strength, and resistance to wear, water, rust, oil, and acid. It is widely used in fruit preservation, cosmetics, confectionery coatings (including enteric and film-forming applications), as well as in military, electrical, and paint industries. With breakthroughs in dewaxing, dechlorination, bleaching, wastewater treatment, and quality control, the product offers low chlorine content, extended thermal stability and shelf life, and is safe and environmentally friendly.
Usage Instructions for Refined Bleached Shellac:
Shellac dissolves best in ethanol and its homologs. It is also soluble in ketones and low molecular weight fatty acids (e.g., formic acid, acetic acid), as well as aromatic amines. It is insoluble in solvents like benzene or acetone alone, but becomes soluble when mixed with 5-10% water.
To obtain low-viscosity shellac solutions, dual-solvent systems are recommended, reducing viscosity by up to 50% compared to ethanol alone. Examples include:
Methanol + Propanol (75:25)
Ethanol + Ethyl Acetate (60:40)
Methanol + Acetone (60:40)
Shellac can also dissolve in inorganic bases such as sodium carbonate, borax, and ammonia.
