Effect on the central nervous system
The effect of imperatorin on seizures was studied using the maximal electroconvulsive epileptic seizure
threshold model in mice. The study found that intraperitoneal injection of 50 and 100 mg/kg-1 of imperatorin
30 minutes earlier could increase the voltage threshold of seizures in mice by 38% and 68%, respectively,
and demonstrated that imperatorin improves mice with electrical stimulation. The effect of the onset threshold
is dose and time dependent.
Effects on the cardiovascular system
The chromatographic retention peaks of imperatorin and verapamil were similar. It can reduce the protein
content and cell volume of cardiomyocytes prestimulated by angiotensin I, and its effect is dose-dependent: the
ratio of heart weight of spontaneously hypertensive rats treated with angiotensin I is significantly reduced,
indicating that the effect of angiotensin I on both in vivo and in vitro is anti-hypertrophy.
Antibacterial and antiviral activity
Imperatorin has significant antibacterial and antiviral activity. Seven components were extracted from the
flowers of Magydaris tomcntosa, and four components, including eucrutin, were tested for bacteriostasis. It was
found that eucrutin had strong inhibitory activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (minimum
bacteriostasis concentration was 32-128 mg-ml).
