What is Piperine?
 

Piperine is main active component of pepper. It is a type of alkaloid. It is found widely in nature, especially in
pepper plants.
Piperine accounts for 4%-9% of pepper fruit. Hongkang Piperine comes from dried fruits of black pepper. Acts
as a natural cosmetic ingredient.It is extremely sensitive to light. It is almost insoluble in water, and slightly
soluble in ether; it is soluble in benzene or acetic acid, and easily soluble in chloroform, ethanol.

In recent years, with the research in cosmetics field, it has been found that Piperine can promote skin penetration.
It is responsible for enhancing effective ingredients of cosmetics to quickly penetrate into skin. Therefore, it can be

1-Function:

 

1- Anti-inflammation
Piperine can inhibit production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Thereby, it cuts down expression of inflammatory
cytokines such as interleukin 1, interleukin 6, tumor necrosis factor α, etc. Therefore, Piperine can reduce inflammation
and pain. It exerts an banti-inflammatory effect.

 

2-Promotion of penetration
Piperine can be absorbed through skin, and act directly on subcutaneous tissues, nerves and blood vessels. Thus
Piperine can significantly improve and promote absorption and utilization of active ingredients in skin. Also it can
help cosmetic ingredients quickly penetrate into skin.

3-Anti-oxidation
Piperine can reduce oxidative stress damage of cells in the process of oxygen free radicals generation and scavenging.
Additionally, it has certain scavenging capacity to hydroxyl and DPPH free radicals. It exhibits anti-oxidation property.
Its anti-oxidative capacity is equivalent to 60.05% of vitamin C; and it is stable in acidic medium.
