Vanillin butyl ether is a colorless to light yellow liquid with a sweet aroma, similar to the taste of vanilla and tobacco. It is almost insoluble in water, but soluble in alcohol and ether solvents.

Preparation:
Vanillin butyl ether is usually prepared by the reaction of butyl acetate with p-aminobenzaldehyde.
